2. Data Collected

Browsing data (only with consent): pages visited, browser, operating system, language, referrer. This data is anonymous and collected via Umami, a self-hosted analytics platform. IP addresses are anonymized via salted hash and are never stored directly.

Language preference: stored in an essential cookie (lang) to remember your language selection.

Feed suggestion form: name, email address, website URL, and message. This data is provided voluntarily.

3. Legal Basis

Essential cookies (lang, session): legitimate interest (art. 6.1.f GDPR) — necessary for site functionality.

Analytics (Umami, page views): explicit consent (art. 6.1.a GDPR) — only activated after accepting the cookie banner.

Feed suggestion form: contract execution (art. 6.1.b GDPR).

4. Third Parties and Data Transfers

Cloudflare — CDN and security. May set its own cookies (__cf_bm, _cfuvid) for bot protection.

Tailwind CSS CDN (cdn.tailwindcss.com, Cloudflare) — Only loads CSS. Visitor IP is visible to the CDN.

Brevo/Sendinblue — Used to send notification emails when the feed suggestion form is submitted.

Umami — Self-hosted analytics platform on our servers. No data is transferred to third parties. Only activated with consent.

5. AI-Generated Content

Article translations and daily digest summaries are automatically generated using AI models (Groq, OpenRouter). No user data is used for content generation.

6. Data Retention

Analytics (page views): 6 months, automatic deletion.

Click tracking: 6 months, automatic deletion.

Umami: 12 months.

Feed suggestions: until admin review.

Server logs (Caddy): automatic rotation by size (~250MB max).

7. Your Rights

Under the GDPR (articles 15-22), you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Data portability
  • Object to processing
  • Restrict processing
