**Top Story** GitHub announced that its Advanced Security suite now includes AI Autofix, a feature that automatically generates patches for vulnerable code snippets detected during scans. The system leverages a fine‑tuned large language model to propose context‑aware fixes, then runs a quick verification loop before presenting the suggestion to the developer. This move pushes security automation from mere alerting to active remediation, dramatically shortening the time‑to‑patch for open‑source and enterprise projects. For developers, the immediate benefit is a reduction in manual triage effort and a lower likelihood of exploitable code slipping through code review. The broader implication is a shift toward AI‑driven DevSecOps pipelines, where continuous security becomes a built‑in, low‑friction part of the development workflow. SOURCES: [9] **AI Models & Research** Frontier coding agents are being positioned as end‑to‑end automated researchers, testing the limits of ML for science where domain insight is as critical as algorithmic prowess. The paper introduces “Age,” a framework that evaluates how these agents climb scientific hills in uncontrolled environments, highlighting gaps that developers must address when building truly autonomous research tools. Speculative evolution powered by large language models offers a cost‑efficient route to scientific discovery, but the authors expose inefficiencies in current pipelines that waste compute on redundant trials, prompting developers to rethink how they integrate LLM‑driven search into experimental loops. Decision language models emerge as a lightweight alternative to heavyweight LLM judges for clinical AI outputs, delivering structured judgments with far lower latency and cost, a practical win for developers building compliance‑heavy health applications. SOURCES: [1], [2], [3] **Developer Tools & Frameworks** Scaling pre‑training for embodied agents across diverse virtual worlds shows that expanding data diversity and model capacity yields robust performance even when visual styles and physics differ, giving developers a template for building more generalizable simulation agents. Sketch2Sim delivers an end‑to‑end pipeline that turns hand‑drawn circuit sketches into SPICE‑compatible netlists and runs simulations automatically, opening a fast‑track for hardware prototyping without manual transcription. The “Speedrun Relational Foundation Model Pretraining” effort publishes a set of reproducible recipes that dramatically cut the wall‑clock time for relational model training, allowing labs with modest resources to compete in the foundation‑model race. SOURCES: [5], [7], [8] **Industry & Business** No significant developments today **Worth Watching** A new detection system called SynthID can flag AI‑generated images—like a fabricated Pink Panther photo—in seconds, showcasing a practical tool for combating deep‑fake misinformation that developers may soon need to integrate into content pipelines. Query clarification for retrieval‑augmented generation is being refined with a small fine‑tuned model that asks better follow‑up questions, a subtle but powerful improvement that could make RAG‑based assistants far more reliable in ambiguous user interactions. Scaling in Games: Continued Pre-Training For Embodied Agents In Diverse Virtual Worlds

Scaling data, diversity and model capacity has improved embodied learning in physical environments, where diverse experiences remain grounded in shared physical laws. Whether these gains extend to virtual worlds with different visual styles, dynamics, controls, and objectives remains unclear. We investigate this question through a controlled study of continued pre-training (CPT) across three axes: data volume, diversity, and model size.

Automating ML for Science: Can Frontier Agents Climb Scientific Hills in the Wild?

Frontier coding agents are increasingly framed as end-to-end automated researchers, and ML for science offers a demanding test of that promise: improving a scientific model often requires domain insight beyond routine ML engineering. We introduce Agent4Sci, a long-horizon testbed for measuring how far today's agents can improve the published best models on scientific ML benchmarks, spanning 20 benchmarks across 11 domains.

Sketch2Sim: an end-to-end modular framework for hand-drawn circuit analysis

This study proposes a sketch-to-simulation system to solve handwritten circuit diagrams. The system converts raw images into a Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis (SPICE)-compatible netlist and automatically calculates the circuit's nodal voltages and currents. Another objective is to propose a holistic framework that benefits students and educators by enhancing the teaching and learning experience of electric circuits and expediting engineering design reviews.

Speedrunning Relational Foundation Model Pretraining

Progress on foundation model pretraining is gated by who can afford a trial, and relational pretraining is no exception. Recipes are developed inside individual labs, reported under private protocols, and do not accumulate. Speedrun leaderboards remove that barrier by decentralizing the search rather than the training run. The problem is fixed, the stack is open, entries are ranked by wall-clock time to a quality target, and one GPU is enough to hold the record.

A Small Model Asks Better: Fine-Tuning Query Clarification for Retrieval-Augmented Generation

Query clarification is essential for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems that face ambiguous user queries. We consider multi-turn grounded conversational scenarios where a user query is either ill-formed or ambiguous in the context of the prior dialog or, more interestingly, it may be well-formed but when posed against retrieved documents there are multiple relevant interpretations.

Decision language models as affordable and rapid alternatives to LLM judges of clinical generative AI

Automated judges of clinical artificial intelligence (AI) outputs are necessary, but large language model (LLM) judges are costly and slow at scale. We compared Jev, a decision language model that returns structured judgments, with frontier and open-weight LLM judges in four use cases.

SpecEvo: Speculative Evolution with Large Language Models for Cost-Efficient Scientific Discovery

LLM-driven evolutionary search is a promising paradigm for scientific discovery, but existing methods remain costly and slow, often applying expensive reasoning uniformly while underusing evidence from failed, redundant, and saturated trials. We introduce Speculative Evolution (SpecEvo), a multi-LLM framework that coordinates lightweight and frontier models through continual consolidation of search evidence.
